Efficiency PACK for the Marine industry

SHARE

Orcan Energy AG has engineered the efficiency PACK specifically for the marine industry, leveraging their extensive experience to design a compact, robust solution tailored to vessel requirements. The efficiency PACK converts waste heat from exhaust gases, cooling water, steam, or thermal oil into reliable electricity, generating up to 100 kW or 200 kW per module. This reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions, enhancing EEDI, EEXI, and CII indexes while demonstrating substantial cost savings with a payback period of two to four years. The modules, which occupy minimal engine room space, are engineered for high-reliability with a proven track record in over 3.9 million operational hours worldwide. They operate independently and require minimal maintenance, boasting a scheduled TBO of 120,000 hours. Adaptable to varying heat sources, the modular design maximizes power output up to 1 MW when configured in stack formation. Orcan's ORC technology ensures efficient energy capture and conversion, supporting sustainable practices in maritime operations.

Save costs

Our ORC modules convert waste heat from exhaust gases, cooling water, steam or thermal oil into clean electricity, with up to 100 kW or 200 kW of net power per module. This not only reduces your vessel’s fuel consumption and carbon emissions, but significantly improves EEDI or EEXI and CII indexes as well. Payback time is two to four years for cash-out investments, for commonly used fuels today. For tomorrows upcoming future fuels with lower energy densities, in combination with a CO2 levy, this return on investment can be even more attractive. For financed asset investments, typically a positive accumulated free cashflow is reached from the first day of operation.

Proven reliability

Efficiency PACKs have been sold to customers worldwide with a proven reliability in over 3.9 Mio. hours of operation. Its specific marine design and standardized components ensure a robust and reliable operation under all marine conditions.

Flexible and low-maintenance

The efficiency PACKs operate entirely independently and automatically with negligible scheduled maintenance required. The first scheduled TBO [Time Between Overhaul] is 120.000 operational hours. The modules are built extremely compact, which means they are easy to install and require only 1.5 m² (100 kW) or 3.9 m² (200 kW) of engine room floor space. Thanks to its excellent part load capacity and modular design, it adapts quickly to the heat source to maximize power output, which may reach up to 1 MW of net electrical power into a stack configuration.
