Air sparge system - Case Study

ERC was contracted to install an air sparge system in Central Ohio. Air sparging is an in situ remedial technology that reduces concentrations of volatile constituents in petroleum hydrocarbons adsorbed to soils and dissolved in groundwater. This involves the injection of contaminant-free air into the subsurface saturated zone, enabling a phase transfer of hydrocarbons from a dissolved state to a vapor phase. The air is then vented through the unsaturated zone where it is captured by the VER system.  This project involved installing 76 air sparge wells, 4 VER wells, supplying air sparge compressors, air compressor manifolds, associated instrumentation, & compressor containers then commissioning of the treatment system.
