Backward Curved Blower

In this Calciner Tempering installation, we retrofitted backward-curved blowers to replace our customer’s existing fans for increased efficiency and longer fan life. Using 300 HP customer-supplied motors, we incorporated a flexible coupling drive, unitary base, and pie-split housing for easier maintenance access to the fan wheel and shaft.

The high-efficiency backward-curved blower has a narrow wheel and housing to move lower air volumes at higher static pressures commonly occurring with induced draft applications requiring combustion air.

Calcination operations processing finely divided solids like phosphate and requiring tightly-controlled temperatures or the elimination of exhaust gases rely on rotary calciners to transfer heat. The calciner has a rotating drum inside an externally-heated furnace. You may know this as an indirect kiln.
