Flood risk is a combination of the likelihood of flooding and the potential consequences arising. There are different maps depending on the chosen hydrological scenario (see flood hazard maps). The flood risk maps should consider information about:
- the number of potentially affected inhabitants
- the type of economic activity on the area potentially affected
- other information of interest (e.g.potentially contaminated sites, sites of historic interest, key community infrastructure, health and social care, environmental hazardous activities)
