Maximum Efficiency for...Saving Water
In an attempt to protect our ecological surroundings and minimize the negative effects of industrial processes, it is necessary to purify and recover the waters used during washing operations of sand washing, quarrying and recycling operations. The first step is to recover 100% of the waters used and to eliminate the concentration of sludge, thus Baioni`s solutions aim at offering a full sludge treatment system that include last generation thickeners, polyelectrolyte dosing system, high performance horizontal centrifuges, filter presses, Pod systems.
Baioni thickeners offer efficient primary stage water treatment: steel tank demountable for transport operations with six rakes supplied as standard; dinamic bridge with hydraulic system when water level is particularly crucial; gearbox and heavy duty shaft and rake assembly with full walkway access. For the flushing of sludge a discharging cone placed below the tank: the structure is purposely equipped with some rakes which concentrate sludge into the cone through a very low speed rotation. Rakes rotate along tank floor allowing a high quality sludge and avoiding any clogging. What are the advantages? Easy management, thanks to the computerized system of the flocculant dosing device, the evacuation of solids and all other services, the system can be remotely controlled via internet or another network; easier to move, as the modular bolted sections ensure reduced installation time in case tank has to be moved from site.
The introduction of Baioni system brings significant cost savings as it reduces the area previously required to accommodate ponds or lagoons, pumps and accessories are outside allowing easy access and maintenance. It also reduces the volume of fresh water required to feed the washing plant by up to 80% as there is a constant water flow during the process, so waters are reused instead of being disposed off. It is a compact design for rapid installation and minimum down time.
The Baioni water treatment system is fully automatic allowing to adapt the program in function of each installation, as to optimize flocculant dosing and sludge pumping. It can be used for quarrying, mining and recycling applications as well as for industrial wastewater treatment plants where the following materials are subjected to washing operations: Sands and Gravel, Aggregate and Mineral, Drilling & Tunnels, Soil washing, Tannery, Agro-industrial, Industrial laundry, Ceramic industry, various Industrial processes. The solutions developed enable to treat water arising from jobsitesurface drainage, from industrial discharge, and to recycle orvalorise clearing sludges, polluted soils, while containing pollution and concentrating it in inert materials.
While the water used for the washing is totally reused, thickened sludge is extracted from the back discharge of the tank and through a pump is sent to the centrifugation step. To limit the cost of disposal of thickened sludge or limit the amount of material to bring to landfill, it is necessary to separate the excess of water in the same sludge, making the latter drier. Two methods of mechanical dehydration are available: centrifuge decanter or filter press, both can be supplied by the Italian manufacturer.
The development of the BaiWash system and BaiDec decanter have been one of the first ventures into the water and wastewater treatment sector by Baioni through the Environment Division. This technology has been widely adopted by water companies and contractors to the industry in the treatment of a variety of waste materials including waste from digesters, quarrying, mining and recycling material, oil tank cleaning and waste from lagoon or pond emptying services. “The success of the two systems on a variety of installations proved our capability in the development of new and improved processing systems for this industry” explains Milena Bianchi, Marketing Manager. “It also allowed us to foster a greater understanding of the existing problems that the industry is currently facing. The introduction of the BaiWash system and BaiDec decanter is an example of our ability to develop solutions to environmental problems”.
