RetroFAST Case Study

The Problem: Recently, we received a call from a pastor of a rural congregation in Indiana. He asked if he could use the water puddle standing in his septic system’s drain field for irrigation. “It seems a waste to just leave it there!” He said. “Can I use it to water my tomatoes?” I responded that his drain field should absolutely not have a big water puddle in it! And NO, he couldn’t use it to water his tomatoes. I told him he had a failed drain field. On further investigation, we determined that the drain field piping was
clogged from the biomat. His septic system needed help.

The Solution: We installed a RetroFAST® Septi System Enhancement in the church’s septic tank. Within a few months, the drain field was revitalized, and the ponding disappeared.

The Product: The RetroFAST is an attached-growth biological treatment unit that upgrades an underperforming septic system. The biological treatment reduces the biodegradable organic matter in the wastewater, and also delivers more dissolved oxygen to the drain field; both improvements help to break up the clogging layer (“biomat”) in the drain field.

The RetroFAST is a compactable unit inserted directly into the existing septic tank through a standard 18” (45cm) manhole. The installation can be completed without the need for heavy machinery, usually in less than half a day. Best of all, our S.O.S. (“Save our Septic) Program guarantees that the RetroFAST revitalizes your failed drain field, or your money back! Better Water. Better World. BioMicrobics, Lenexa, KS.
