Electropolishing Services

Harrison Electropolishing is a leading provider of electropolishing services for industrial and high purity industries. Since our opening in 1980 we have continually worked to expand and improve our services. Today, with over 50 employees and expanded operating hours, Harrison Electropolishing is well suited to provide electropolishing services for a multitude of industries.

Passivation Services

Why does stainless steel Rust? When the correct alloy has been chosen for a specific environment, and it still rusts, then something has likely affected the surface of the material. Real-world fabrication, welding and handling of stainless steel components will leave surface contaminates. These contaminates, including weld oxides and embedded particles, hinder stainless steel’s natural ability to resist corrosion. Pickling and/or Passivation can remove these surface contaminates, and allow the material to perform as it is engineered.

Mechanical Polishing Services

Mechanical polishing is the smoothing of a surface using mechanical tools and abrasives. Mechanical polishing is performed in steps with progressively finer abrasives until a desired smoothness is achieved. The precision polishing process removes material and plastically deforms the surface while it alters the macroscopic and microscopic surface texture.

On-site Electropolishing

Harrison Electropolishing is capable of performing all of its services in our facility in Houston, Texas, or at your location, anywhere in the world. When it is impractical to ship a part or to remove a component from service, it may be practical to have it polished onsite. Our mobile electropolishing personnel can perform our polishing services wherever they may be needed. All Harrison Electropolishing field services personnel are certified for confined space work and are properly insured. Our sales consultants would be happy to answer your questions regarding our mechanical polishing and electropolishing field services.

Oxygen Cleaning Services

Components intended for use within an oxygen-enriched environment must adhere to stringent cleanliness requirements. Our Oxygen Cleaning process will effectively prepare a component to contain, or operate within an oxygen-enriched environment by removing combustible contaminants. Through our Oxygen Cleaning process, both organic and inorganic contaminates, such as hydrocarbon materials (i.e. oils or greases), are removed. Through our years of experience, Harrison Electropolishing has developed customized cleaning procedures for stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, glass and other materials intended for Oxygen service. We are capable of cleaning components of all sizes to ASTM and CGA specifications, or to your required industry or company standard. Our sales consultants would be happy to answer your questions regarding our O2 Cleaning Services.

Pickling

The Pickling process utilizes more aggressive acids than those used in passivation. The acids used when pickling the stainless steel surface can remove or dissolve existing oxidation, weld oxides, embedded particles and scale that can build up on stainless steel during real-world fabrication, welding and handling. Pickling is used extensively to clean and prepare stainless steel fabrications for service within demanding environments. Without pickling, stainless steel fabrications will not resist corrosion as they are engineered to do. Harrison Electropolishing has performed pickling treatments on corrosion resistant materials with excellent results since 1980. We have the capacity to pickle components of all sizes. Harrison Electropolishing can perform stainless steel pickling / passivation treatments in compliance with ASTM A380 or your industry or company specific chemical passivation standard.
