The Global Mapper Software Development Kit (SDK) is designed to extend the capabilities of the Global Mapper desktop application to custom-built applications. It enables developers to create unique toolbars and extensions, enhancing data processing and analysis functionality. The SDK supports both 32- and 64-bit Windows DLLs and is compatible with various programming languages, including Visual C++, Visual Basic, and Visual C#. It includes a managed .NET wrapper for easier memory management with Microsoft’s .NET Framework. The SDK supports a wide range of file formats, ensuring broad interoperability. It offers functionality for spatial data operations, including loading multiple layer formats, executing spatial predicates, and initiating various spatial data analyses such as elevation determination, contour generation, cut-and-fill volume calculations, and reprojection tasks. The SDK also facilitates importing and exporting data to and from several spatial databases, including Esri ArcSDE, MS SQL Server, MySQL Spatial, Oracle Spatial, and PostGIS/PostgreSQL. Recent enhancements include support for 3D data visualization, 3D fly-through recordings, Skybox simulations, and GPS tracking in 3D environments.
