LIGHTHOUSE invented laser headspace technology more than 15 years ago and continues to develop innovative headspace applications and robust equipment platforms. We have recently developed the PULSAR line of machines to characterize the physical headspace conditions of product samples in a reliable, compact, and flexible platform. Our PULSAR Headspace Inspection System can provide automated, 100% inspection of headspace oxygen, moisture, and carbon dioxide levels in sealed parenteral containers, while our PULSAR Headspace CCI Inspection Lease System offers a small footprint, fast delivery solution for the 100% CCI inspection of pharmaceutical product on a per project basis.
Syntegon KHS Series for CCI
LIGHTHOUSE has partnered with Syntegon (formerly Bosch Packaging Technology) to develop the KHS series for high speed, high performance headspace leak detection systems for identifying loss of container closure integrity (CCI) in sterile products. Loss of CCI can occur due to component defects (cracks in glass, out-of-specification vial/stopper dimensions or improper vial/stopper combinations) or process defects (displaced stoppers prior to capping, misaligned tooling, rough handling). Laser-based headspace leak detection systems from Syntegon powered by LIGHTHOUSE measurement technology enables rapid automated in-line leak detection by monitoring changes in headspace gas composition or changes in total headspace pressure.

Model FMS-Oxygen - Headspace Analyzer
LIGHTHOUSE pioneered rapid, non-destructive headspace analysis. LIGHTHOUSE’s FMS-Oxygen Headspace Analyzer measures oxygen concentration in sealed parenteral containers. The benchtop headspace oxygen analyzer can be used throughout the entire product lifecycle, from development to QC laboratory applications to at-line, in-process control of headspace oxygen levels and production.
Model FMS-Pressure/Moisture - Headspace Analyzer
LIGHTHOUSE pioneered the creation of rapid, non-destructive headspace analysis. LIGHTHOUSE’s FMS-Pressure/Moisture Headspace Analyzer simultaneously monitors both moisture partial pressure and total headspace pressure. The benchtop FMS-Pressure/Moisture Headspace Analyzer can be utilized throughout the product lifecycle for development and QC laboratory applications, as well as final inspection of headspace moisture and pressure levels in production and packaging.
FMS-Water Activity Analyzer
LIGHTHOUSE has engineered a variety of rapid, non-destructive headspace analysis platforms. LIGHTHOUSE’s FMS-Water Activity Analyzer measures the water activity (% RH) of drug product samples. The water activity analyzer can be used throughout the entire product lifecycle from development to QC laboratory applications to at-line, in-process control of tableting processes in production.
