An independent laboratory analyses all decontaminated metals that leave our facility. Thus we will be certain that the original PCB-contamination has been removed before recycling the metals. Orion has a longstanding cooperation with leading Dutch metal merchants who will process the metals at reputable smelters.

Orion separates the collected oil by contamination level. Tthat way, it is possible to choose the best available technique for the destruction of the oil. Oil with low or average PCB contamination will be processed by incineration at incineration plants specialised in hazardous waste. Energy produced in this process will be used to generate electric power and heat. From heavily contaminated PCB oil will the chloride be recovered. This chloride will be used as base material for new products. Orion works in cooperation with West European incinerators of hazardous waste which use the best environmental techniques to protect the environment.

Apart from metal and oil transformers and capacitors also contain ceramic, wood and paper. PCB contamination is not only found in equipment, but also in soil, roads and buildings. This is mostly caused by leakage. The process developed by Orion is suitable for cleaning all nonporous materials.
