A suitable and sufficient assessment is required by law to identify and assess the risk of exposure to legionella bacteria from work activities and water systems on the premises, and should also detail any necessary precautionary measures. The legal obligation to conduct a legionella risk assessment at work is defined under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH). At Second Element we have made our reputation by providing detailed and accurate surveys of our client’s water systems, to determine the potential for legionella proliferation and dissemination, and assess the risk of legionellosis.

Maintaining clean water storage is an important part of a water hygiene strategy. Water storage tanks can act as a sump and collect sediment and debris, which can provide nutrients and an environment for legionella proliferation. Second Element has specialist cleaning and disinfection teams and can employ several methods for cleaning and disinfecting hot and cold water systems.

Once our team has completed your risk assessment, and brought your Legionella risk down to minimum through remedial action, cleaning and disinfecting, we will then ensure risk is kept that low with a thorough legionella control regime.
