Tailwater Systems services

We can come to your site and assess what will be required to treat your well water or process effluent. Key things you need to provide us: Recent water sample showing nitrate, phosphorus, pH, conductivity, and turbidity. Recent flow rate information showing the volume of water required for treatment. Installation requires you to provide a source of AC power and a pressurized source of water.

For smaller systems (< 75 GPM), our team will do the installation. For larger systems we will use one our irrigation company contractors.  Most important requirement is to provide a flat and properly prepared area. A solid foundation of crusher dust or equivalent about 3-6 inches thick is essential. The base of the bioreactor tanks needs to be protected from erosion or other activity that could undermine the foundation of the tank(s). We normally build a pressure treated lumber frame around the base of our bioreactors.

Our team will provide the inoculum (specially cultivated bacteria).  You can expect to wait 1 -3 weeks for the inoculum to colonize the inside of the bioreactor "towers".  We will make arrangements to provide an external carbon source (required by the bacteria).  Normally we use locally available waste water with high levels of organic material but we can also provide waste glycerol, for example, from a local biodiesel refinery.  You may use your own source of external carbon, providing that Tailwater can see the material safety data sheet (MSDS) first.

The system is designed to start and stop automatically, without computer control. We use a state-of-art sensor-driven control system to monitor and control the operation of the system and adjust operational parameters as required to maintain the target effluent characteristics. Servicing is normally done monthly or bi-monthly. We have numerous options for servicing. We can provide the service, you can use a third party water treatment company, or we can train your staff to do the basic maintenance such as replacing consummable items and cleaning traps and strainers.
