Enviro Composite Drainage Grates Specifications

ENVIRO COMPOSITE DRAINAGE GRATES MATERIAL Enviro Composite Grates are manufactured by combining continuous fiberglass roving, with a dark gray, pigmented polyester resin modified with property enhancers to impart UV resistance (weather ability) and Class 1 Flame retardancy. (FS 25 per ASTM E84). The top of the Enviro Composite Grate shall be a non-slip composition of angular grit embedded into the top surface of the grate and banded on 4 sides. PROPERTIES Enviro Composite Grates offer superior corrosion resistance over painted, galvanized steel or cast iron. (Resulting in a potential lifecycle advantage). Enviro Composite Grates utilize a 2” square grid with a weight of 4.5lbs. per square foot. LOAD DESIGNATION Enviro Composite Grates are intended for light duty pedestrian traffic and will exceed 300 psf point loading. (These products do NOT meet H-20 load requirements) Enviro Composite Grates are intended for use on drainage control structures in non-traffic areas of storm water retention/detention ponds. TOLERANCE The tolerance for the Enviro Composite Grate is +/- 3/16” FLOW AREA The net square inch flow area for the Enviro Composite 2” Grate is approximately 72%. This flow rate should be reduced by the area of the grate seat to calculate the actual flow thru. HOLD DOWN Mechanical hold-downs are recommended to secure the grate to the precast concrete control structure. Stainless steel T-316 “J” Clips and Tapcons are provided with each grate. Other hold-downs are available for special applications.
