HYDRA Nitrate AnalyzerELECTRO-CHEMICAL DEVICESFeatures Benefits• Nitrate ISE electrode • Fast and Accurate NitrateMeasurement NO3- or NO3--N• Cl -and Temp. electrodes • Fully compensated for Cl-interferences & Temperature(Op&onal pH electrode)• Rugged PVC design • Removable electrode guardfor easy maintenance• Integral Spray Head Cleaner • Clean sensor in situ withpressurized water or air• Internal Signal Condi&oning • Amplified signals allow up to200 meters between Sensorand Analyzer HYDRA NO3-NDescrip&onThe HYDRA Nitrate Analyzer measures the concentra0on ofdissolved nitrate as nitrogen (NO3--N) in water. The sensor usestwo electrodes to determine the NO3--N concentra0on, a NitrateIon Electrode and a Chloride Ion Electrode. It is designed for usein all kinds of water. Typical applica0ons include monitoringenvironmental waters, lakes, streams and wells as well aswastewater treatment in aera0on basins and e?uent.Nitrogen primarily enters a municipal wastewater treatmentplant as ammonia/ammonium compounds. Nitri?ca0on oxidizesthe toxic ammonium ion into much less toxic nitrate ion usingan aerobic ac0vated sludge process. De-nitri?ca0on reduces thenitrate ion (NO3-) to nitrogen gas (N2) by an anoxic reac0on inthe same treatment basin or in a separate anaerobic digester. The NO3--N measurement can op0mize the methanol being fedto the digester, minimizing cost, and also provide a trend of thetotal nitrogen (TN) in the e?uent. The Nitrate Ion Electrode provides the primary measurement. Asecond electrode measures the Chloride ions in the sample. Thechloride ion due to its similar size and charge to the nitrate ion, cause a posi0ve interference in the measurement. The ChlorideIon Electrode measures the amount of chloride ion present inthe sample and HYDRA C22 Analyzer subtracts the appropriateamount of signal from the Nitrate Measurement. An op0on pH electrode is also available in the HYDRA-NO3sensor. While not required for the measurement it can providevaluable informa0on about the process. Temperature is alsomeasured and used to compensate each of the measurements.Ion electrodes tend to be less well behaved than pH electrodesso for the best results, calibrate the sensor near the processtemperature. The rugged HYDRA-NO3 sensor has a 1 ¼” NPT rear facing threadfor a1aching an extension/immersion tube for easy installa0onfrom catwalks or handrails. The HYDRA-NO3 sensor issubmersible with an IP68 degree of ingress protec0on. Aremovable electrode guard facilitates easy electrodereplacement when necessary. The HYDRA-NO3 sensor featuresinternal signal condi0oning that allows the sensor to bemounted up to 200 meters from the analyzer. The HYDRA Nitrate Analyzer displays all measurements on theHome Screen. Provides (2) 4-20 mA outputs and two AlarmRelays. It is con?gured to periodically actuate a cleaning cycleusing the integral spray cleaner in the sensor. This minimizes theforma0on of bio?lms and other coa0ngs on the electrodes, keeping maintenance to a minimum. The period and dura0onof the cleaning cycle is user con?gurable. The 4-20 mA output isheld at either the last value or a preset value during the cleaning. The HYDRA Analyzer is also available in an Ammonium, NH4+-N, Analyzer con?gura0on.Electro-Chemical Devices1681 Ke1eringIrvine, California, USA 92614Phone: +1-949-336-6060+1-800-729-1333Fax: +1-949-336-6064email: [email protected]: www.ecdi.comSpecifica?ons subject to change without no?ce.Represented by:Specifica&onsSensorSensorA Three Electrode system with spray cleaner, Nitrate ISE(NO3-- N) is the primary measurement. The Chloride ISEis used to compensate the NO3- signal. An op0onal pHelectrode is available for pH measurement.
