MODEL 440Compliance Opacity Monitoring SystemNEW TECHNOLOGY PROVIDING:· Microprocessor-Based Head and Controller· Extensive Diagnostic Capability· Built-In Data Storage· Controller/Combiner for up to Four Opacity HeadsDescriptionThe Model 440 is a single path, double-passinstrument that continuously monitors stackopacity for compliance. A system incorporatinga Model 440 meets current U.S. EPArequirements for stationary source monitoring ofstack effluents.Unique to the Model 440 is a quick-disconnecthinge mechanism that enables the field servicetechnician to remove the optical head form thestack for remote servicing without altering theinstruments alignment. This is particularlyvaluable in winter. To replace the instrument onthe stack, simply set the optical head on thehinge pins, close the latch, reconnect the dataand power cables, and switch the instrument on.Since no re-alignment procedure is required, maintenance is substantially reduced. The microprocessor-based electronics containedin the optical head eliminates the need foranalog potentiometers. All settings are madethrough digital parameters via the remotecontroller or local hand-held terminal. Inaddition, extensive diagnostics are availablethrough the controller. Opacity and diagnosticdata are stored in the instrument’s built-in datastorage, and can be downloaded to a PC via RS-232.In the event of a stack power failure or purgeblower feature, the Model 440 is protected fromthe corrosive stack effluent by automatic airshutter valves. These air shutter valves protectthe analyzer and retro reflector until power isrestored or the defective blower is replaced.Since the shutter valve system has fewmechanical parts (no flow sensors or solenoids),it is highly resistant to particulate buildup andjamming.System SpecificationsSize and WeightOptical Head 22½”L x 15¼”W x 30½” H 95 lbs.Retro Reflector 22½”L x 15¼”W x 30½” H 84 lbs.Blower Assembly 30½”H x 22½”D x 15¼”W(Swing Radius = 37”)Electrical RequirementsOptical Head 120/230V + 10%, 20/10 amps,And blower 50/60 Hz, single-phaseOpacity Range 0 to 100%Mass Density 0-999 mg/m3Calibration Error <1% opacityCalibration Drift <1% opacity(24 hrs.)Zero Drift (24 hrs.) <1% opacityAuto Span and 1 to 24 hoursZeroSpectral 400-700 nm rangeResponseAngle of Projection 4 degrees maximumAngle of View 4 degrees maximumOutputs (2)Isolated 4-20mA(2) 0-10 VoltRS-232Analyzer ResponseTime 1 secondTypical Lamp Life 30,000 + hoursAmbient TempRange -40 to +125°FOperationalDistance 2 to 50 feet (flange to flange)Alarms Window Dirty CommunicationHigh Opacity LampPurge FailSpan For Price and Delivery Information, Contact:Thermo Environmental Instruments Inc.8 West Forge ParkwayFranklin, MA 02038 USAPH: 508-520-0430FX: 508-520-1460www.thermoei.comE- Mail: [email protected]. 01025ThIS Analytical B.V.Heerbaan 220, 4817 Breda, HOLLANDTel: 31-76-571-3717 Fax: 31-76-581-2028Thermo Electron Nippon Co., LTD.151 Ichinotsubo, Makishimach.
