Exceptional air quality and emissions monitoring scientific committee for CEM Asia
The CEM Asia Conference on Air Quality and Emissions Monitoring, taking place in
Kuala Lumpur on the 17th-19th November, is supported by an exceptional
committee of internationally respected scientists, researchers and industry leaders.
With decades of experience across academia, government collaboration, consultancy, and
international scientific networks, the committee is exceptionally well positioned to deliver a world-
class conference that addresses the latest developments and challenges in emissions monitoring
and clean air technologies.

Dr. Noor Zaitun Yahaya
Leading the conference as Chair is Dr. Noor Zaitun Yahaya, Chief Executive Director of Global
Enviro Enterprise in the United Kingdom. Dr. Noor Zaitun brings a rare combination of academic
excellence, technical expertise and international leadership experience.
Her background in environmental management, air quality, aerosol science, and emission
instrumentation makes her highly suited to guide a conference dedicated to continuous
emissions monitoring. Her PhD research at the University of Leeds contributed to an award-
winning team recognised with the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for excellence in air quality
research.
Over the years, she has successfully chaired major international conferences including the Better
Air Quality Conference and the Asian Aerosol Conference 2024. Her work in artificial intelligence
and big data analytics for environmental modelling, particularly through the development of the
My_Atmos system, demonstrates her forward-looking approach to modern air quality solutions.
Her leadership experience across international organisations and professional societies further
strengthens the conference’s global reach and reputation.
Dr. Juliana Jalaludin
Supporting the conference as Co-Chair is Prof. Dr. Juliana Jalaludin from Universiti Putra
Malaysia. With more than 28 years of experience in environmental health and air pollution
research, Prof. Juliana is one of Malaysia’s leading experts in air quality monitoring and exposure
assessment.
Her expertise covers urban pollution, industrial emissions, transboundary haze, and the health
impacts of poor air quality. She has played a major role in shaping Malaysia’s clean air policies
through her involvement in the National Clean Air Action Plan and revisions to the Malaysian Air
Pollution Index.
Her extensive publication record, leadership in international scientific conferences, and
experience managing research teams and large-scale events make her a valuable asset to CEM
Asia. Her strong connections with government agencies, researchers, and international
organisations will help ensure meaningful scientific and policy discussions during the conference.
Dr. Mohd Talib Latif
Heading the Scientific Committee is Prof. Dr. Mohd Talib Latif of Universiti Kebangsaan
Malaysia. A Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and an internationally recognised
atmospheric chemist, Prof. Talib has extensive expertise in aerosols, volatile organic
compounds, greenhouse gases, and atmospheric processes.
His collaboration with Malaysian government agencies and international scientific programmes,
including the IPCC and IGAC-MANGO, provides the conference with strong scientific credibility
and global relevance. His experience in emissions research and atmospheric monitoring ensures
a rigorous and technically strong scientific programme.
The committee is further strengthened by internationally respected experts including Sanjeev K.
Kanchan from India, whose experience in environmental governance, industrial decarbonisation,
and monitoring technologies brings valuable industry and policy perspectives.
Dr. Sheng-Lun Lin contributes expertise in aerosol science, advanced thermal processes, and
PFAS pollution research across East Asia.
Prof. Puji Lestari from Indonesia offers decades of experience in air quality modelling, emissions
inventories, and atmospheric chemistry, while Dr. Kasturi Devi Kanniah provides cutting-edge
knowledge in remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and geospatial analysis for pollution
monitoring.
