The Polystryrene Problem.

Polystyrene / EPS is accepted as the most versatile packaging material available. Because it is strong, lightweight and has excellent insulation prpertiess it is the preferred material for use in many industries, particularily the fishing industry. The problem until now has been how to dispose of the used and possibly contaminated boxes. The answer has been provided by Mil-tek who have developed a shredding and compaction system that presents the compacted product in a form that is easily recyclable. The Mil-tek system does not depend on expensive heat to form the blocks of EPS which means that minimal energy is also required in reprocessing this material. To date more than 30 Mil-tek machines are in operation in various industries in Ireland and most important Mil-tek have developed a market for the EPS blocks.
