ASDs control motors’ operating speeds by continually changing the electrical frequency as necessary. 

Ideal for pump, fan and blower applications, our MagnaDrive ASDs are available in sizes ranging from 5 to 4,000 horsepower and in speeds up to 3,600 RPM. 

While usually designed for process control, ASDs have other major benefits, including lower maintenance and operating costs and energy savings.

To select an ASD for your system, determine the maximum running horsepower and maximum running speed required by your pump or fan. The maximum speed and horsepower needed in a system with MagnaDrive speed control is usually less than in a fixed speed system using dampers or throttling valves. Both the speed and horsepower information is important, since the MagnaDrive ASD must be sized to deliver the maximum torque needed in your system. 

The MagnaDrive ASD requires some slip between the driven speed and the output speed. The ASDs sized in this table have 1% to 4% slip when operated at full rated motor speed and torque.
