AGT Mini System

The AGT Mini system brings our suite of aeration, heat recovery, and control technology into a configurable package for smaller compost volumes. 

Born from our experience in commercial-scale compost aeration and heat recovery, the AGT Mini system is a compact solution for smaller compost operations. The Mini System shares the features of our larger products but in a smaller, modular package that requires some on-site assembly. This minimizes cost without sacrificing quality. Standard features include the industrial control package, speed adjustable blower, and monitoring of temperature, oxygen and flow rates. A standard system can be piped to a single compost zone, or multiple zones with manual valves. Negative aeration offers the opportunity to use heat directly from the hot compost exhaust in a biofilter growing bed. Air-to-water heat exchangers, and automated valve packages are engineered to be easily integrated with the base model. The Mini System is available in 3” and 4” pipe sizes, with up to five automated zones, to aerate compost volumes from 30 to 400 cubic yards.

YES Compost runs a compost collection and vermicomposting operation servicing the Bozeman, Montana region.  Karl Johnson (owner) has been in touch with AGT as his business grows, and purchased an AGT Mini-System in the summer of 2023.  The Mini System is part of Karl’s move to a new larger site, and is powered by an off-grid solar array with battery and generator backup.  Karl’s Mini System has been engineered for super efficiency to reduce load on the battery bank.

Using an AGT vapor-to-water heat exchanger, compost heat is sent to radiant beds beneath four worm bins in Karl’s greenhouse. The system aerates two batches of approximately 60 CY each, connected with manual valves.  This ensures there is always one active batch to provide heat for the worms.  The batches are arranged on the site to fit neatly in the overall material flow: when a batch finishes its active aerated phase, it is rolled over and the next active batch is shouldered into the aerated zone.  The AGT Mini System is helping Karl raise his worms off-grid and free his business from the cost of renting a heated warehouse space.
