The RF Capacitance Level Switch is engineered for precise point level detection in applications involving solids, liquids, and slurry materials stored in tanks and vessels. The device's electronics feature an oscillator, detector, and output relay, ensuring accurate and reliable high or low level information. The probe consists of an active section and a shield section, insulated from each other to prevent false readings from material build-up, a common issue with conventional sensors. Sensing changes as minute as 0.5 pF in capacitance, the probe detects material presence or absence with interference-free operation, simple calibration, and fail-safe functionality, proving reliable in challenging materials such as dusty or sticky substances. Supporting Class II hazardous locations, various probe models and extensions are available to accommodate diverse applications, including bins, chutes, and conveyors in industries like petrochemical, cement, and pharmaceuticals.

The standard RF capacitance probes detect the presence or absence of material in contact with the probe by sensing minute changes (as low as 0.5 pF) in capacitance caused by the difference in the dielectric constant of the material versus the air.
