Model 1120 & 1121 -Decontamination Spray
Sprayable version of the popular Decontamination 1101 Gel. Decontamination 1120/1121 Spray is a one component, water-based, sprayable, broad application, and peelable decontamination hydrogel. Recommended for decontamination of radioisotopes as well as particulates, heavy metals, water soluable and insoluble organic compounds (including tritiated compounds). The hydrogel coating can be applied to hoizontal, vertical and inverted surfaces and can be applied to most surfaces including bare, coated and painted concrete, aluminium, steel, lead, rubber, plexiglass, herculite, wood, porcelain, tile grout, and vinyl, ceramic and linoleum floor tiles. When dry, the product locks the contaminants into a polymer matrix. The film containing the encapsulated contamination can then be peeled and disposed of according to appropriate local regulations.
- Zero preparation
- Easy application
- Simple effective decontamination
- Penetrates cracks, rough, painted and odd shaped surfaces
- No respirator (unless mandated by other job safety concerns)
- Dries to tough, non-sticky, easy to peel film
- Rehydratable for forensics
Do not dilute the Decontamination Spray for sprayers
1120:
A light duty hand held power sprayer with at least 180 bars and a wide angle tip are recommended.
Please note: Decontamination 1120 Spray is only recommneded for non-porous (1-2 coats) or semi-porous material (3-4 coats) with about 2 hours between coats.
1121:
An industrial electric airless sprayer with capabilities of 4.3 litres per minute or faster, and a spray tip with an orifice of 0.48 mm.
Drying time depends on the ambient humidity, temperature, type of substrate and applied wet film thickness. It can take from as little as an hour for thin coats in a dry environment with plenty of airflow, to overnight or longer if thicker coats are applied in a humid environment. Times exceeding 24 hours may be required for good peel performance on bare concrete, wood and other highly porous substrates. Applying supplemental heat can speed up the drying time.
It is recommended that first time users of DecontaminationGel learn how long the product will take to dry in their own environment and preferred thichness by first testing a small application on the same type of substrate to be decontaminated.
Coating can be used straight from the container without any stirring.
