Dimethoxymethane
On the State Enterprise "Tar" is working on the production of methylal (dimethoxymethane, formal). Methylal (chemical structure: CH 3 -O-CH 2 -O-CH 3 ) - a substance belonging to the class of acetals. Methylal may be used as a solvent used in the perfume industry, in the production of resins, glues, solvents for paints, protective coatings. It has medium solubility in water and miscible with all common organic solvents.
Currently methylal is considered as a promising clean replacement ozone depleting HCFC - 141b (Freon 141b, 1-fluoro-1,1-dichloroethane, R141b, HCFC 141b, CFCF 2 CH 3 ), used as a blowing agent (blowing agent) in the production of polyurethane foams, the solvent (component mixed solvents) in manufacturing processes of degreasing, cleaning and washing, the coolant in the air conditioners and heat pumps, as well as inhalation anesthetic in veterinary medicine.
