Model DA-12C/W -Monitoring Stations

SHARE

The DA-12 Monitoring Station is a small yet sophisticated remote data acquisition controller for use with the CIMScan monitoring system. The DA-12 supports the attachment of up to 16 wired or wireless sensors. The inexpensive type CT/CF/CZ wired devices connect to the DA-12 via a common 4-wire multi-drop network called the SensorBus. The battery-powered PS series wireless sensors communicate with a receiver attached to the DA-12 using the uncrowded 418/433 MHZ band. The DA-12 communicates with the CI MScan server computer using TCP/IP via direct connection to an RJ-45 Ethernet LAN port (DA-12C) or via Wi-Fi (DA-12W). It is also possible to link a DA-12C to the server via the cellular telephone network using a small Ethernet to GSM/GPRS bridge.

As with all of our remote device controllers, the DA-12 series has the ability to store up to 12,000 measurements with timestamps and status whenever communication with the server is lost. During this time, the DA-12 tests the input data from alarm and warning conditions and alerts local personnel to an abnormal condition via visual and audible indicators. Once communication with the server is restored, the DA-12 automatically uploads the buffered data where it is processed and stored just as though nothing happened.

All the SensorBus sensors are polled every 10-15 seconds. Analog measurements are averaged for the user-configurable sample period. At the end of this time, the average is scaled appropriately and compared with alarm or warning limits that have been downloaded from the server. If an out-of-limit condition is detected, the measurement is sent to the server immediately. If not, the measurement is held and the server updated at a user configurable server update rate.

Elapsed time counts from active digital inputs are transferred to the server whenever the sensor is polled.

The DA-12 calculates the following statistics every time an input is scaled.

  • Maximum detected during the hour
  • Minimum detected during the hour
  • Average over the hour
  • One of a number of special calculations

The special calculations can be 1) variance over the hour, 2) the Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT), or a 3) Total accumulation over the hour assuming that input is a rate expressed in units/sec, units/min, units/hr, or is a simple incremental value.
Every input channel can be field calibrated (scale and offset values provided). Aconvenient calibration dialog is available in the service tool program.

  • Can handle up to 16 CT/CZ wired or PS series wireless sensors
  • Automatically calculates statistics (max, min, average) for every input and accumulates totals for those that contain rates.
  • Buffers measurement data and handles local alarm processing during LAN or server outages.
  • Uses standard TCP/IP communications to talk with the server via existing LAN facilities or the Internet.
  • Supports Wi-Fi and direct Ethernet LAN connection or interface with cellular telephone system via an adapter.
  • Small Size and Low Cost
