Additionally, we develop and manufacture state-of-the-art data acquisition and telemetry systems. MetOcean Telematics has been a world leader in integrated systems used for real-time environmental monitoring, with specialization in the production of air-deployed and ship-deployed drifting buoys, search and rescue buoys, oil spill tracking buoys, ice platforms and acoustic systems, and defence and security systems. MetOcean Telematics marine focused products have been developed to support niche markets in a wide variety of scientific and commercial fields. These markets include Oil and Gas, Search and Rescue (SAR), Oceanographic, Meteorological, Military, Polar, ARGO Program, Aquaculture and Port Authorities.

Engineering

MetOcean Telematics staff provides a cadre of nearly 50 highly skilled personnel possessing extensive experience in the design and fabrication of data acquisition and telemetry systems. Over the past 30 years, our knowledge in conjunction with a strong manufacturing team has been supporting continuous data collection system research and development for both the military and commercial oceanographic market. Additionally, our experienced engineering support has successfully completed many government contracts; involving the development and fabrication of unique one-of-a-kind systems throughout North America as well as many other countries around the world.

Production

MetOcean Telematics has a large team of highly skilled professionals possessing multi-disciplinary experience in the design and fabrication of data acquisition and telemetry systems. This broad range of knowledge has been developed by a team of over 45 dedicated engineers, technologists, production workers and support staff. This strong team produces cost-effective, reliable systems and products. Our analog/digital electronics experience is very extensive — encompassing designs of VLF, UHF, and digital subsystems resulting in the completion of many customized circuit board designs.

Facilities

The MetOcean Telematics head office is located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. The proximity of our facility to the ocean is of prime importance to our plant. Both the Bedford Basin at the head of Halifax Harbour, and the nearby open ocean provide a test facility no lab or test tank can duplicate. MetOcean’s facilities have recently expanded to occupy a facility of over 40,000 sq. ft. of space that is divided into offices, labs, prototyping facilities, electronics assembly/storage and mechanical assembly. Approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of our space is strictly dedicated for use as manufacturing space.
