Escherichia Coli O157 is a bacterial infection that can cause diarrhoea, kidney failure and stomach pain. E coli is found in the gut and droppings of animals. It can be caught by eating contaminated food, touching infected animals, contact with people who have the E-coli infection and drinking water from untreated water supplies. Symptoms: Stomach cramps, Fever, ,Diarrhoea, Bloody diarrhoea. People often experience and notice the symptoms 3-4 days after they have been infected but symptoms can last up to two weeks. Very rarely people with E-Coli infection develop a serious condition called haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS). This can also lead to death or kidney failure.  People who are ages under five years are at the highest risk.
