LAWI - Model EtaLogic -Process & Automation Optimization Systems
Biomass and WtE power plant process control is a complicated process, in which many process parameters have interaction with each other. Solid biomass and WtE fuel with various and sometimes unpredictable quality, heating value and moisture and even sudden changes to power generation demand, causes a lot of difficulties for the tuning and parameterization of DCS controllers, regarding the stability and in general efficiency. Therefore designing an advanced control algorithms for a better control is of advantage. These advanced algorithms aim for increasing stability and efficiency of the plant, which financially has a direct relation with plant income. LAWI Engineering has designed an advanced Control System called EtaLogic® for this purpose, which enables the customer to benefits from the LAWI’s experiences regarding previous commissioning and plant design in tuning the process controllers.
The solution to flatten the curve
LAWI Engineering has a long-term experience in the field of design and implementation of solid waste combustion technologies and respective control systems for power plants. With this experience and with the strong believe that there shall be a solution for these challenges, LAWI has developed an intelligent model-predictive combustion control optimization system in order to target the challenges of “flattening the curve” of solid waste combustions and to significantly increase the stability and efficiency of the plant operation.
The result is the LAWI EtaLogic®, an advanced process control scheme that incorporates not only on multi-dimensional augmented intelligence but also year of operational experience into one single optimization system.
LAWI EtaLogic® is installed on a separate PC with an industry standardized communication link connected to the basic control system. All data exchanges with the process are handled through the normal DCS / SCADA control system.
The LAWI EtaLogic® applies typical available plant process data such as furnace temperatures, O2 levels, emission levels, steam flow, pressure and temperatures, flue gas temperatures. The patented process and automation optimization system takes care of all critical required process adjustments such as fuel feeder speed, grate speed, primary air, secondary air and other.
