Finsa - Scale Filter Plates

Filter plates can be made of different materials, such as polypropylene, stainless steel or aluminum, again depending on the specific application. Each material will provide its own characteristics of resistance to corrosion, abrasion and temperature on the plate. In this way, greater efficiency will be achieved in the filtration process.

There are different types of filter plates for filter presses. These are: chamber plates and membrane plates, mainly.

The first, camera plates , are common. They have a cavity in the center. This fills with mud during the filtration process.

Membrane plates , on the other hand, have a membrane inside that swells as pressure is applied to the assembly. Thus, it allows greater filtration efficiency and improved filtered mud results.

The filtration process with filter plates for filter presses is quite simple. The liquid to be filtered is introduced into the chambers formed by the plates and pressure is applied to the assembly. As the liquid filters through the fabrics, solid particles accumulate on its surface, forming a twist. Once the filtered twist reaches a certain thickness, the filtration process is completed and the filtered twist is removed from the plates.
