The dewatered sludge (18-30%DS) is first pre-dried in the thin film evaporator. Afterwards, a chopper shapes the product into granules. From the chopper the granule passes to the belt dryer, where it is dried to the required level (65-90%DS). Absolutely unique and noteworthy is the fact that the belt dryer requires hardly any additional energy thanks to the heat recovered from the vapours in the thin film evaporator.
