Metaspec - Model ASTM D8485 -Test Specimen Set
The ASTM D8485 Test Specimen Set is designed specifically for the ASTM D8485 standard, which evaluates the corrosion effects of electrical vehicle coolants on various metals found in EV engines. Measuring 1 x 2 x 1/16 inches with a 17/64-inch center hole, these specimens are crafted with precision to ensure accuracy in test results. Unlike ASTM D1384, ASTM D8485 uses a different number of specimens and distinct assembly hardware. Each specimen is batch traceable to the original material, ensuring high-quality and reliable data for corrosion testing. Metaspec also provides all necessary accessories for the test assemblies, including legs, bolts, nuts, and spacers, which can be ordered individually or as part of the test specimen set. These reliable and standardized specimens are essential for researchers and engineers focused on improving the resilience of electric vehicle cooling systems, providing critical insights into material performance under corrosive conditions.
Test specimen sets & assemblies used in ASTM D8485 (Corrosion Test for Electrical Vehicle Coolants in Glassware). This test is used to measure the effect of coolants on metal test specimens that are similar to the metals present in electrical vehicle (EV) engines. Note that ASTM D8485 is very similar to ASTM D1384, but uses a different number of specimens and different assembly hardware.
ASTM D8485 test specimens are 1 x 2 x 1/16 inches and have a 17/64-inch center hole. These specimens are prepared in the same way as ASTM D1384 test specimens. The standard ASTM D8485 test specimen set includes:
- Stainless steel (UNS 30400, Grade 304) specimen
- Aluminum (UNS A93003, 3003) specimen
- Copper (UNS C110000, C110) specimen
Each test specimen is batch traceable to the original material. These test specimens are also available individually. Metaspec provides the test specimen accessories or hardware (legs, bolt, nut, spacers) used in ASTM D8485 specimen assemblies. These accessories can be ordered together with specimen sets or separately, as needed.
