PBC Linear - Model D -Uni-Guide Linear Slide System
The D Uni-Guide Linear Slide System by PBC Linear is engineered with a two-piece aluminum structure incorporating the Simplicity technology. This system offers a unique assembly design that virtually eliminates tolerance build-up, efficiently dampens vibrations, and handles shock loads with ease. Its design facilitates seamless integration into existing setups, simplifying installation processes. Central to its functionality is the self-lubricating FrelonGOLD® liner, which negates the need for oil, ensuring prolonged, maintenance-free use. Moreover, the Uni-Guide provides extensive design versatility, making it suitable for numerous applications, from affordable automation solutions to sophisticated packaging machinery. Its lineage includes the critical performance feature of managing cantilevered loads effectively with specific load-to-bearing length ratios, embodying engineering principles that prevent carriage binding. This makes it an invaluable resource for precision linear motion applications.
PBC Linear applied our proven Simplicity technology to a two-piece aluminum linear slide to create the Uni-Guide. The result is a unique assembly that eliminates tolerance stack up, dampens vibrations and shock loads, and can drop into existing applications making installation easy. Most notably the Uni-Guide is equipped with our proprietary FrelonGOLD® liner that provides oil-free operation for the life of the linear slide system thanks to its self-lubricating properties. Uni-Guide has unlimited design options and versatility making it ideal for applications ranging from low cost automation to packaging equipment.

Design Considerations for Uni-Guide
Cantilevered Loads
Binding of the carriage will occur if the 2:1 ratio for cantilevered loads and drive forces is exceeded. This principle is not load or force dependent. The 2:1 Bearing Ratio is officially defined as the maximum ratio of the moment arm distance to the bearing length that will not cause binding or hinder motion. This ratio is often represented numerically as "2:1," where "2x" represents the moment arm distance and "1x" represents the bearing length. For instance, if 2x equals 10 inches, then 1x must equal 5 inches.
