Periodic maintenance work: The maintenance schedule stands in direct relation to the individual operating conditions. Therefore Viscotherm recommends to make periodic oil analysis (about every 6 months). The maintenance work schedule for each individual installation should be made in accordance to oil analyses. Oil change (depending on oil analyse) ~yearly. Change high pressure filter element (recommended every 6 months as well as about 6 operating hours after every oil change). Change or clean suction stainer (only on pump units with gear pumps). Clean oil tank. Check for external leakage. Recommended: Efficiency check on pump unit and ROTODIFF.

Filter blockage indicator (check only at working temperature)

Cooling

Recommended working hydraulic oil temperature: 40 - 45 °C
Where input cooling water temperature is over 20 °C, consult VISCOTHERM
Compare inlet and outlet water temperatures of recommended working oil temperature can not be maintained. In this case cooler cleaning might be necessary.
If the pump unit is exposed to ambient temperatures below 0 °C ensure that the cooling water does not freeze (empty cooler or add anti-freeze, ensure continuous circulation)

Cooler cleaning

With hard cooling water:
Flush with 5% diluted formic acid. (Caution: after cleaning the cooler with diluted formic acid flush cooler thoroughly).

With water contaminated with organic substances:
Flush with clean water or if the contamination is persistent use steam. (Cleaning flush always serval times in the opposite direction of the normal cooling water flow direction thoroughly).

Caution:
The level- and temperature switch (see our service information SI-11) exists for emergency situations only. Pump units and ROTODIFF`s which run above the maximum recommended temperature due to inefficient cooling will experience high rate of wear, and therefore a short life-time.

In the case of very dusty, humid or high ambient temperatures in the operational area, it is advisable to shorten the service interval. VISCOTHERM will advise.

Works revision of pump units and ROTODIFF
The frequency at which the works revisions should be undertaken will depend upon the application (working pressure, ambient temperature, etc.). A work revision will be indicated by a drop in the efficiency of the pump unit or the slip-drive ROTODIFF, as check (or tested) during routine servicing. Work revisions on pump units and ROTODIFFS should be undertaken by either a trained service technican from one of the authorized repair facilities or at the factory in Switzerland.
