A gap analysis is an audit that establishes what materials and resources make up your environmental management system, and what are missing. From here, we can develop your EMS into one that is complete, productive and legally compliant. A gap analysis typically scrutinises organisational processes such as standard operating procedures, training processes, risk assessment methodologies, any previous incidents and the environmental roles and responsibilities of staff and management. It will also examine your regulatory requirements as well as your environmental aspects and impacts.

What we do

Graham A Brown & Associates has developed an ISO 14001 EMS Gap Analysis Protocol to assess your organisation’s conformance to the ISO 14001 standard. Featuring over 200 questions, our protocol has been successfully applied to major EMS gap analyses for many organisations. Our RABQSA certified auditors will first seek to identify existing sources of documentation including:

  • Corporate standards
  • Policies and procedures
  • Manuals and other instructions

To complete our analysis, we’ll examine documents, inspect your worksite(s) and interview relevant personnel. We’ll then provide a detailed report including either recommendations for improvement or an action plan that can be immediately implemented.

How we work

A gap analysis can be completed either formally or as a mentoring session that allows you to utilise our consultants’ knowledge and experience.

Our gap analyses are conducted in accordance with the international standard AS/NZS ISO 19011:2002 Guidelines for quality and/or environmental management systems auditing.
