Microtunneling

SHARE

`An efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to open-trench construction` Microtunneling is a trenchless laying technique in which pipes can be pressed through the earth even below groundwater level. Ludwig Pfeiffer Microtunnel operates in this field throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and has successfully and accurately carried out many complex tunnelling operations. Committed to innovation management, we are able to identify developments at an early stage, placing us at the cutting edge of engineering and machine technology. We were among the first to identify the trend towards long-range tunnelling and have now established ourselves as one of the leading companies in this field. This method makes it possible to reduce the number of launch and exit trenches. We have successfully achieved reach lengths of over 1000 m in a wide range of diameters, geologies and space curves.

Our extensive equipment enables us to handle numerous construction projects simultaneously using various methods such as AVN, AVND and EPB. Our range of services covers complete project handling, "from planning through to handover".

The AVN, AVNT, AVND or EPB tunnelling machine is operated from a control container located in the area of the launch trench.

AVN = Automatic tunnelling machine with slurry material removal
AVNT = Automatic tunnelling machine with slurry material removal and
an opening in the bulkhead partition door
AVND = Automatic tunnelling machine with slurry material removal
and compressed air control of the support pressure
EPB =  Earth Pressure Balance Shield

The rotating cutting wheel machines the full working face and mills off the earth. This milled off earth is transported by means of a drilling suspension to the separation plant, where it is separated from the suspension again.
It is therefore possible to use this suspension in a "closed system". This also enables tunnelling in groundwater without settlement measures.
