Wetlands are highly diverse communities, providing habitat for many threatened or endangered species as well as other ecosystem services. Due to the historic loss of large amounts of wetland area, several state and federal regulations have been enacted to protect and recover existing wetlands form further degradation. As such, the presence of wetlands should be a consideration in real estate transactions.
