The EU Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products (EUDR) is designed to fight climate change by curbing deforestation, forest degradation, and biodiversity loss in global supply chains.

From December 30, 2026, certain commodities and derived products may only be placed on or exported from the EU market if they are deforestation-free, legally produced, and demonstrably compliant through a Due Diligence Statement (DDS).

The regulation applies to a defined list of commodities and their derivatives, including soy, palm oil, wood, cocoa, coffee, rubber, and cattle – plus a wide range of goods made from them.

Core Requirements:
  • Deforestation-free
No forest loss since the 2020 cut-off date
  • Legally produced
Production methods must comply with the laws of the country of origin
  • Backed by a Due Diligence Statement (DDS)
Companies must submit a DDS for affected products to the EU TRACES portal
Who Is Affected?
  • Importers and traders placing EUDR-relevant goods on the EU market
  • Manufacturers processing raw materials from affected supply chains
  • Exporters shipping from the EU to third countries
Why Manual EUDR Compliance Doesn’t Work

The EUDR presents significant operational and technical challenges:

  • Traceability down to the exact land plot for every shipment
  • Geolocation mapping and multi-layer risk analysis for each shipment and supplier
  • Cross-department coordination between Procurement, Compliance, Sustainability, and IT
  • High manual effort in data collection, verification, and reporting
  • Continuous monitoring of suppliers and commodities for changes in risk status
The consequences of non-compliance are severe:
  • Fines up to 4% of annual EU turnover
  • Seized or blocked shipments
  • Audits & loss of EU market access
Why the Investment Pays Off
