Processing electronic scrap (E-Scrap or WEEE) presents special challenges. Computers, consumer electronics, and IT equipment need to be destroyed to extract recyclables or ensure the security and complete destruction of the product. Hard drives, tapes and data storage devices must be completely destroyed to provide data security. And, while many electronic scrap items do not require the specific size reduction that hard drives or other data storage devices require, all electronic scrap includes recoverable ...

Since 1991, the bi-directional dense medium separation technology for the recycling of automobile and industrial wastes is being used. For many years a principle client in this regard has been the Group Galloo. Group Galloo owns currently 50% of the AD REM shares. At first the Galloo staff was not convinced that a carrot separator could compete with the classical dense medium separators on the market at that time. So they set up a trial on +12 mm automobile shredder residue, running half of the test material ...

Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling is a large industry focusing on the recovery of metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and even precious metals from electronic scrap. The applications and needs of non ferrous metal recyclers vary greatly. These can include a large corporate recycler buying UBC bales for shredding to be converted back into beverage cans or a small recycler who is recovering precious metals from circuit boards or catalytic ...

As a raw material, metal can be repeatedly returned to the resource cycle with very little loss, but the success – and value – of the process greatly depends on the cleanliness of the materials recovered. With the commodity rate of metals constantly fluctuating, the quality yield from a recycling line therefore needs to be as high as ...

Several million scrap refrigerator units are disposed of every year in Germany alone. The proportion of refrigeration units recycled by volume totals about 40% and is the most significant segment after consumer electronics. One particular challenge in this recycling process is presented by chlorofluorocarbons such as R 11, R 12 or R 141b, which were used for decades as foaming agents for insulation materials. Since these substances damage the Earth’s ozone layer when released, they must be removed and ...
