The extract ductwork that draws fumes away from the smelting pots in an aluminium smelting plant contains levels of contaminants that need to be removed from the exhaust before discharge to atmosphere. The TORBED process is used as a reactor to contact alumina with the exhaust gas stream to adsorb the pollutants prior to discharge. A TORBED reactor can be employed in a single or two stage assembly providing unique adsorption ...

Specific industrial applications require wet end of pipe treatment for NOx or CO2. Macrotek offers absorbers utilizing various reagents for neutralization of NOx or CO2. NOx scrubbing is particularly suitable in situations where Nitric Acid can be utilized elsewhere in the plant, as it is a scrubbing product. As CO2 regulations become more stringent, methods for reducing emissions are continually being evaluated. Macrotek offers CO2 scrubbing technology which isolates CO2 in a contaminated stream to produce a pure ...

FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) involves the treatment of flue gas from coal fired power plants. The main goal is to remove sulfur, particulates, and other chemicals such as mercury from the flue gas prior to environmental release. Governmental regulations by the EPA put limits on the amount of impurities which can be released into the air. The use of mixers to clean and scrub the flue gas is utilized to help power companies meet permitted limits on the release of controlled ...

Hydrogen Peroxide as a Replacement for Sodium Hypochlorite Hydrogen peroxide may be used in both mist scrubbers and packed tower scrubbers as a replacement for sodium hypochlorite (bleach). Like bleach, the process involves two concurrent mechanisms: 1) absorption of the odors (H2S) into the alkaline scrubbing solution; and 2) oxidation of the absorbed sulfide in solution. Step 1: H2S + NaOH → NaSH + H2O Step 2: 4H2O2 + H2S → H2SO4 + 4H2O Typical dose ratios are 5 parts H2O2 per part ...

Meat Processing Equipment: JWC offers a variety of meat processing equipment and assists in meat processing wastewater. Meat processing facilities produce wastewater with heavy loads of fats, oils, grease and solids. Before sending that water down the sewer drain, pre-treatment is required to remove as much of these solids as possible. Devising the most cost-effective treatment process is where facilities directors stand to make the most meaningful impact on their bottom line. The right combination of equipment, ...
