Electrodeionization (EDI)
Industries requiring high purity or ultrapure water such as the Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Laboratory and Power may not be aware that Electrodeionization (EDI) is the go-to replacement for DI canisters (which require onsite or offsite chemical regeneration). EDI offers improved performance at a reduced cost over DI. Furthermore, EDI does not use chemicals nor does it generate hazardous waste.
EDI consists of alternating layers of anion- and cation-selective membranes filled with mixed ion-exchange resins. The membranes allow the ions to pass through with anion-selective membranes permeable only to anions and cation-selective membranes permeable only to cations.
Ask your DI service supplier about EDI or contact Aqua Clear Water Treatment Specialists. We can provide you the return-on-investment (ROI) calculations to determine if EDI makes sense to reduce your annual operating expenses ([email protected]).
